There have always been many theories that all the games that HoYoverse releases, are connected in some form or way. One of the newest, upcoming characters, Acheron, reinforces these assumptions even more. Let's find out, who this Galaxy Ranger really is!

Honkai Star Rail Lore: Who is Acheron and what is her connection to Raiden Shogun? | © HoYoverse
If I wasn't so sure, that I'm looking at one of Honkai Star Rail's upcoming units Acheron, I'd be convinced, that this is a new version of Raiden Mei from Honkai Impact 3rd!
However, this isn’t the case, even though there are a bunch of similarities amongst them! But who is Acheron and is it really a coincidence or even laziness on the part of HoYoverse, that these two ladies look so much alike?
Until now, Acheron has been a rather rare guest in the Honkai Star Rail universe, and we still don't know much about her personally, let alone what her true intentions are. Acheron only made her first real appearance recently, in one of Honkai Star Rail's latest trailers.
Unfortunately, we can only see her in the very end for a few seconds, however this is more than enough to find out, that Acheron will be a playable character on the new world Penacony, the Planet of Festivities! For everyone who missed the news: Penacony will be the planet for Honkai Star Rail's first birthday and 2.0 update!
Just like Raiden Mei, Acheron doesn't seem to be particularly talkative either, because when asked who she is, she only answers with her name and her faction: The Galaxy Rangers. Maybe she just doesn’t have time for more chitchat …
The Galaxy Rangers is a voluntary-formed group that travels around the cosmos to uphold Justice for the locals out of the belief that benevolence and justice must be upheld by personal action. While members of the Galaxy Rangers hail from different worlds, and have all kinds of personalities and traits, each of them are h****ighly skilled, despise evil, and believe in Lan and the path of The Hunt.

The Galaxy Rangers came to particular prominence through a skillful attack on Lord Ravager Zulo, who once tried to bring chaos over the entire universe. Instead of attacking him directly, the Galaxy Rangers formed a plan and used The Swarm’s lack of intelligence to their advantage, which allowed them to assassinate the evil without any further losses.
Other known members of the Galaxy Rangers are, next to Acheron, La Mancha and Loretta!
A pretty neat fact to know about Acheron's name, is that it is probably just a codename! Her Japanese name is actually “Yomi”, which means something like “underworld”!

Anyone who has played Honkai Impact 3rd, at least a little, noticed multiple familiar characters in Honkai Star Rail. The probably most obvious ones were Himeko and Seele! In addition to their looks, their names are also similar in both games, which is of course no coincidence. In Acheron's case, Raiden Mei would be her Honkai Impact pendant.

Many players assume that HoYoverse is deliberately implementing variations of Honkai Impact 3rd characters in their most recent game, however, it is still unknown why. The most prominent theory believes that Honkai Impact 3rd and Honkai Star Rail play in the same universe and that the characters are indeed the same, just an older version of them.

However, regarding Himeko and Seele, Acheron's name is a bit odd, since it has nothing to do with her original name from Honkai Impact 3rd, being Raiden Mei. And don’t get confused: The “Mei” in Raiden Mei and Ruan Mei aren’t the same, even if it looks the same in the English, they use different Chinese characters.
Let's forget the names for a moment, because everything else is surprisingly similar between the two ladies! Both are Electro in terms of their element, both carry a katana that is far too big for them, and both have long, dark purple hair!
Personally, I'm pretty excited about Acheron, especially because I already loved Raiden Mei In Honkai Impact 3rd! Just because of their connection, Acheron will be a must-pull for me, no matter what her abilities will look like!
