1. Get cooking

Fish or chicken? Either way, a hot meal might save your life. Ingredients are all over: pick up every herb, berry, vegetable and slab of meat you find. For a helpful lesson in wilderness survival, seek out an adventurer named Lynn; you’ll find her cooking up a few recipes at the intersecting path in front of Mondstadt’s castle.

Cooking fires can be found everywhere, so keep your bag filled with ingredients.

2. Light up the towers

See a Teleport Waypoint? Activate it! There’s no cost, and you’ll be able to warp to these beacons from anywhere on the map. Teleport Waypoints are great for getting around quickly – and a handy escape if you’re about to lose a fight.

3. Visit the blacksmith

Gruff weapons expert Wagner has a shop near Mondstadt’s front gate. Although he sells some basic weapons, his forging skills are far more useful. Search his goods to determine exactly what you need to make stronger gear and where you can find the materials.

Don’t stick around for battles you can’t win!

4. Master the elements

Genshin Impact rewards those who use nature’s power to its fullest effect. If an enemy is holding a torch, use an Anemo (wind) attack to fan the flames. If your foe is standing in water, try a burst of Cryo or Electro magic and see what happens. (Hint: it’s shocking!)

5. Make a wish

After recruiting your first three companions, you’ll have a well-rounded crew of elemental magic-wielders. Not satisfied? Visit the Wish menu to summon even more heroes. You get several Wishes for free and can earn more by levelling up and completing quests. Who knows what champions you might find?
